Macy's

Rowland Hussey Macy open his "fancy dry goods store" today in 1858 at 204-206 6th Avenue and 14th Street, NY. In 1862 Macy's set a new store standard with the first in-store Santa. Elaborate store window displays (another first) appear in 1864. Macy's moves to a new store at 34th and Herald Square, and has 33 elevators and 4 escalators, the first American store to use them. The original wooden escalators are still working in that store. Bearwiskers says... Macy's is a great American department store, and want to visit the Macy's store in NY city!
