The Tappen Company introduced the first home use micro wave oven today in 1955. It was an micro wave oven at 24 inches wide and cost $1,200. The Tappen Company started out in 1881 as the Ohio Valley Company, which manufactured cast iron stoves in Bellaire, Ohio. W.J. Tappen sold his stoves from the back of his wagon. Today the Tappen Stove Company is owned by the Frigidaire Company out of Dublin, Ohio. Bearwiskers has popped lots of pop corn in a micro wave oven.
