Today in 1956, Buddy Holley signs with Decca Records, and the contract mistakenly drops the "e" in his name. Buddy thinks it's a good idea and drops the letter from his name as well. Buddy, or Charles Hardin Holley was born on September 7, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas. Buddy Holly and the Crickets had a #1 hit with "That'll Be The Day", which is a line from a 1956 John Wayne movie.
