Girl Guides

On this day in 1912, the Girl Guides, later to become the Girl Scouts, is formed in Savannah, GA., by Juliette Gordon. What kind of cookies were they selling back then?

  1. I was a Girl Scout and a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, was born Juliette Magill Kinzie Gordon on October 31, 1860, in Savannah, Georgia. On December 21, 1886, Juliette married William Mackay Low at Christ Church in Savannah, Georgia. She died January 17, 1927, of breast cancer.

"Daisy," as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was the second of six children of William Washington Gordon and Eleanor Kinzie Gordon.
