Defense of Fort McHenry

A poem written by a 35 year old lawyer and some time poet Francis Scott Key, after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812, became the National Anthem of the United States of America. On this day in 1913, President Hoover signed the law to make it so. Bearwiskers says.... God Bless America!

  1. The Star-Spangled Banner.
It starts out "Oh, say can you see,".....
Most of us know the words to the first verse.
Does anyone else sing along at sporting events or at other times? Do you stand and put your hand over your heart, too?
