On this day in 1890, The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in Washington, DC. The DAR is dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. The DAR is a lineage based membership organization for women. There are over 3,000 chapters of the DAR in the United States and 26 chapters in 12 foreign countries!
