Colorado

Colorado became the 38th state on August 1, 1876. Denver is the state capital and claims the invention of the cheesburger. The trademark for the name Cheeseburger was awarded to Louis Ballast in 1938! Denver's 13th step of the State Capital Building is exactly 1 mile high. Katherine Lee Bates wrote "America The Beautiful" after being inspired by the view from Pikes Peak.
