Because of Animal Crackers, many kids until they reach the age of ten, believe a bear is as tall as a giraffe. Stauffer's Biscuit Company produced their first batch of cookies in 1871, in York, Pa. Nabisco makes Barnum's Animal Crackers and are produced in Fair Lawn, N.J. There has been 37 different animals featured in their great tasting crackers. Can you name all of the animal crackers? Austin, a division of the Keebler Company makes animal crackers. Yum yum.

Panda Bears

Panda Bears are smaller than a mouse at birth and weigh about 4 ounces. They can grow up to weigh 275 pounds. The wild panda's diet is 99% bamboo. The collective name for a group is a sleuth or sloth, where a group of Teddy Bears is called a hug. Sounds made by pandas are called bleats, honks and growls.
Teddy is being quiet today.

Red Panda Bear
Did you know that there is a red panda bear? They live in the mountains of Nepal, northern
Myanmar and central China. Like the giant pandas, they have an extended wrist bone that almost acts like a thumb and greatly aids their grip. They live most of their lives in trees and even sleep there.

Yum Yum

The tomato was put "on trial" on September 25, 1820 in Salem,
New Jersey. In front of a courthouse, Robert Johnson ate
a basket of tomatoes to prove they were not poisonous.
The crowd waited for him to keel over dead. He never did.

The best tomatoes I remember having were from New Jersey.

The first Harley Davidson motorcycle was built in 1930 and had a tomato can for a carburetor. Harley Davidson was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by William Harley and Arthur Davidson. You can tour a factory at York, Pennsylvania, Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Kansas City, Missouri, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Cool, Teddy loves harleys.

Eh.... what's up doc? 1949 Long Hairer Hare starring Bugs Bunny is released in theaters. His first appearance was in 1937 in Porky's Hare Hunt. You do know who Porky is, don't you? Bugs has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also appeared on a U.S. postage stamp, the first cartoon to be so honored.

In 1947 an American pilot, Kenneth Arnold, reported seeing strange objects near Mt. Rainier, Washington. He described them as "saucers skipping across the water", hence the term "Flying Saucers" was born. Wow, Ken really started something there, didn't he?
