Do Something Nice Day

Today is Do Something Nice Day. Maybe a thank you or a smile (it won't crack your face)? How about holding the door open for someone. A random act of kindness would work. Say YES or say NO - think about it. Pay it forward in the coffee line. Bearwiskers says...I should try to do this every day, Do good, feel good.

Father Knows Best

Today in 1954, Father Knows Best debuted on CBS, sponsored by Kent cigarettes. It started on radio in 1949 and competed with 19 other family shows. Jim Anderson played by Robert Young, was the father and Jane Wyatt the mother. After the first year, Kent cigarettes dumped the show because of low ratings, but Scott Paper Company picked up the show, changed its time slot, and the show was a hit. It was a great show for years, one of those shows that you love it or hated it. Bearwiskers says...love Father Knows Best.

In God We Trust

On October 1, 1957, In God We Trust was first used on US paper currency. The phrase first appeared on the 1864 two cent coin, and 1866 on the nickel, quarter, half dollar, silver dollars and gold dollars. In God We Trust became the official US motto in 1956.
One of the first references of the motto of In God We Trust is in the National Anthem. In the last stanzas "And this be our motto, In God We Trust. And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave, O'r the land of the free and the home of the brave." Bearwiskers says...God Bless America!
